Brooks partners with the Ironman Asia Pacific Championships

Brooks Running announced today they are set to be the official footwear and run leg sponsor of Ironman Asia-Pacific Championships to be held in Melbourne from 2012-14.
Brooks and Ironman have today announced an exciting new partnership that will see Brooks as the official shoe and run leg naming rights sponsor of the Ironman Asia Pacific Championship from 2012 to 2014. The 2012 Ironman Asia Pacific Championship will be the first time that Brooks and Ironman have partnered at Ironman event in Australia.
“We are thrilled to be working with Brooks, in what is a very natural alliance,” said Trent Taylor, Ironman’s Managing Director of Sales and Marketing.
“A successful partnership for Ironman is one where we can work with a partner that demonstrates the importance of a healthy lifestyle and one that promotes personal goals and accomplishment. With Brooks we have a partnership that delivers that in spades.
“Together we will continue to drive the progression of our incredible sport, and encourage more people to experience the life changing moment of crossing an Ironman finish line,” said Mr. Taylor.
Matthew O’Callaghan, Brooks Marketing Manager said “When we first heard that the Ironman Asia Pacific Championship would be held in Melbourne, we were immediately interested and excited about the prospect of establishing a partnership with the event.”
“In many respects, Ironman represents the pinnacle of individual athletic achievement and we believe there is a great fit between Ironman enthusiasts and Brooks with our shared commitment to performance and achievement.”
“We are really looking forward to working with Ironman to ensure that the event is a success and that our involvement enhances the experience of both participants and spectators,” said Mr O’Callaghan.
During event week, Ironman athletes, spectators and runners alike will be able to get their feet into the latest Brooks range at the Triathlon Trade Show at the Ironman event village at St.Kilda Sea Baths.
The inaugural Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship will take place in Melbourne, Australia, on March 25, 2012. This race will be the first-ever Ironman triathlon competition to be held in the Melbourne metropolitan area.
The 226km race will take place in Melbourne’s South East and Bayside suburbs. The course will include a 3.8km swim in the Frankston Foreshore, a fast and smooth 180km bike on the EastLink Tollway. The Brooks run leg is a 42.2km run from Frankston to the Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship finish line, located at the iconic St. Kilda sea baths.
The 2012 Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship is one of nearly 30 Ironman events worldwide. Athletes will compete for a professional prize purse of $100,000 USD and 75 age group qualifying slots to the 2012 Ironman World Championship, more than any other race in the Asia-Pacific region.
