Emma Moffatt and Brad Kahlefeldt receive pre-nominations for next year's London Olympics in August.

Triathlon Australia announced today via their website that the Gold Coast-based Brad Kahlefeldt and Emma Moffatt have been pre-nominated for the London Olympics in August next year.

The rest of the Aussie shadow squad will have to square off over the domestic season. Selectors will keep a keen eye on the Australian Sprint titles in Geelong and the Oceania Triathlon Championships in Devonport before the main selection races at the Mooloolaba World Cup and Sydney World Triathlon Series race.

Their positions on the team are subject to form and fitness, but both are expected to have the pre-nominations confirmed in June.

Chair of selectors for the Triathlon Australia Elite Selection Committee (TAESC) Dr. Michelle Gallan said both more than deserved their pre-nominations.

"Emma Moffatt has been the most consistent top 10 female performer during the selection period to date," Dr. Gallan said.
"Emma consistently shows the mental capability to race and perform in major ITU International races. She is a key athlete within the Triathlon Australia High Performance National Program and consistently displays team concepts."

"Brad has shown that he is a strong international performer who maintains an excellent, consistent performance level and plays a major leadership role in Triathlon Australia's National Program. His current form includes four top 15 finishes in ITU WCS races, including two top five finishes and a win in Hamburg," said Dr Gallen.

With only two pre-nominated, two spots are still up for grabs on both the men's and women's teams for London.
